Ishvara Pranidhana—surrender to or acknowledgment of higher principle—provides political psychology with a framework for values transcending self-interest. Rather than assuming humans are rational utility-maximizers, Patanjali recognizes capacity for dedication to principles beyond personal gain. In political contexts, ishvara pranidhana manifests as genuine commitment to justice, equality, or institutional integrity even when self-interest conflicts.
