Belonging Reconstructed

Favoritism masquerades as a system of belonging—we belong to an inner circle, we have special place, we are chosen. But this is a counterfeit belonging because it is conditional and fragile; it depends on maintaining status or utility. Rabia's vision reconstructed belonging around something more durable: the recognition of shared humanity and mutual accountability to love. In this vision, everyone belongs not because they earned it but because they exist. This reconstruction requires dismantling many structures: the hierarchy that ranks people by achievement, the tribalism that divides insiders from outsiders, the conditionality that makes belonging contingent on conformity. It is not easy work, and it makes many people anxious because the comfort of favoritism lies in knowing where we stand.
