Love as the Door to Belonging

Rabia al-Adawiyya taught that love, particularly divine love, is the ultimate measure of belonging—not lineage, wealth, or social position. Her radical devotion demonstrated that anyone who loves purely belongs fully to the community of the heart. This concept challenges restrictive definitions of membership and belonging based on external markers. When we approach others and communities with genuine love rather than judgment, we dissolve artificial barriers that prevent inclusion.
