Pure Intention Audit

A practice of examining your motivations in family relationships to distinguish between authentic connection and trauma-driven compulsion or guilt obligation.

Rabia
Why It Matters

Rabia taught the necessity of examining one's heart continually—seeking love of the divine rather than fear of punishment. The Pure Intention Audit is a regular practice of honest self-inquiry: Why am I calling my parent today? Am I seeking connection or approval? Why do I feel obligated to solve their loneliness? Am I responsible for their emotional regulation? Do I stay in contact to prevent guilt or to nurture genuine relationship? Trauma survivors often become hyper-attuned to others' needs, conflating caregiving with love. This audit builds discernment. You learn which impulses come from genuine care and which come from inherited responsibility. Over time, you recalibrate your nervous system. You give from choice, not compulsion. Family contact becomes something you do because the relationship is nourishing, not because you fear the consequences of stepping back. This simple practice, repeated, rewires the trauma bond into conscious relationship.
