What is witnessed and named loses its hidden power. Rabia's spiritual practice involved witnessing—seeing reality as it truly was, including her own transformation from enslavement to freedom. A 'Witnessing Lineage' means becoming the generation that says aloud what previous generations suffered in silence. This is not blame work but truth work. By witnessing the poverty, abuse, discrimination, displacement, or shame your ancestors experienced, you contextualize their choices and diminish the unconscious transmission of their unprocessed pain to you. You become the conscious link in the chain, the one who sees clearly. This practice requires courage and often grief. Rabia teaches that we must see fully to love fully. In the context of family trauma, witnessing means: 'I see what happened to you. I understand this shaped how you loved. I will not pretend it did not occur, and I will not let it pass through me unchanged.' This breaks the spell of invisibility that gives trauma its power.
