Political and civic legacy

The political and civic institutions we build, defend, and sometimes fail to protect are forms of legacy that outlast any individual — for better or worse. The person who works within institutions they disagree with to change them from inside is building a different legacy than the one who burns everything down, and a different one still from the one who does nothing. The examined civic life asks what you are building or protecting.
