Gutenberg's press did not merely reproduce books faster — it destroyed the monopoly on which knowledge could be reproduced, and by whom. The Reformation, the Scientific Revolution, the Enlightenment: all are downstream of moveable type. The internet is the second Gutenberg moment, and the consequences are still arriving.
