Risk-taking — philosophy and psychology

The psychology of risk is actually the psychology of story — what narrative are you inside, who do you believe you are, and what does this risk make you? Nasreddin took risks constantly, but nearly always social ones: the risk of saying the true thing when silence was safer, of looking foolish in service of something real. He would say these are the only risks that ultimately count, because they are the ones you cannot outsource.
