How do I get my team to agree on the real problem first?

You already do the hard part alone. You slow down and find the real shape of the mess before you touch an answer. Your team does not do this on its own. Left alone, they will race to solutions and argue about whose answer wins. The problem is not your skill. The problem is that you have not made it visible. If the clarity lives only in your head, the group moves at the speed of your explanations, not your thinking. Fix this by forcing the group through the same step you take alone. Write the problem down, together, before anyone speaks a solution. This is not a meeting trick. It is the actual work.

The skill itself is simple to explain, but living it inside a group under pressure takes repeated practice, so guidance leads.

What’s really going on

You already choose to slow down before you solve. Now choose to make your team slow down with you. Say the problem in one sentence, out loud, before anyone offers a fix. Make them repeat it back. A team that agrees on the problem moves faster than one still guessing at it.

What changes unlock by starting

  • Your team argues less about solutions because it already agrees on the problem.
  • Meetings get shorter because the real debate happens early, not late.
  • Others start copying the habit without you asking them to.
  • You stop being the one person who has to carry the clarity alone.
One object, two jobs: a public answer to a real problem, and — the moment you start the chat — Aurelius’s live plan for your version of it.
