I can rank anything now. Why does that feel so empty?

You've gotten good at this. That is exactly why it now feels like nothing. When a skill becomes automatic, you stop noticing the person on the other end of it — you notice only the machine that scores your work. But look honestly at what you call 'writing for the algorithm.' Often the algorithm is not to blame at all. It is easier to write toward a formula than toward a real person's confusion, or fear, or need. The formula never judges you back. You did not lose the ability to write for a human. You stopped practicing it, because it is harder, slower, and guarantees nothing. That is a choice you have been making, sentence by sentence. It can be a different choice tomorrow morning.

This is less a knowledge gap than a will problem — you already know how to write for humans; the work is choosing to again.

What’s really going on

You are not tired of writing. You are tired of aiming at a machine instead of a person. The same skill that ranks pages can serve a reader — you have pointed it wrong. Choose, in your next sentence, to write for the one person reading, not the algorithm.

🔒 What you’ll build togetherUnlock by starting
A moveBefore you write the next piece, write down the one real reader's actual question, in their own words — not the keyword.
A moveRead your draft aloud as if to a person sitting across from you. Cut anything you would not say to their face.
A movePick one piece this week and write it only for the reader, ignoring every ranking signal. Notice what it costs you and what it gives back.
A moveName, plainly, what you fear will happen if you write for the human and it does not rank. Then decide if that fear deserves your obedience.
A moveKeep the craft that ranks. After each draft, ask: would this still help someone if no algorithm existed to reward it?

What changes unlock by starting

  • You will have a clear test to run on any draft before you publish it.
  • You will stop pretending the algorithm forces choices that are actually yours.
  • You may write fewer pieces, but ones you are not ashamed to reread.
  • You will know whether the weariness is about the work, or about something else you have been avoiding.
