If a machine preps and drafts better than me, what am I for?
The machine finds the lead now. The machine drafts the email. You used to do both, and you did them well — so well you built your worth on them. Now a tool does it faster, and you're left asking what's left of you. Here's the honest answer: the drafting and the prospecting were never your worth. They were your habits. Habits can be copied. What can't be copied is your judgment — your sense of which prospect is worth the hour, which message will land, which deal to walk away from. That judgment was always underneath the tasks, doing the real work. So stop grieving the tasks. They were never the point. Start training the judgment. That is what the client actually pays for, and it's the one thing the machine can't yet take.
Your worth was never the drafting or the prospecting — those were tasks, not value. What you own is judgment: which deal matters, what the client isn't saying, when to push and when to wait. The machine executes tasks. You make decisions. Sharpen that, or you have nothing left to sell.
What changes unlock by starting
- You can name, specifically, the decisions that are yours alone to make.
- You spend your freed-up hours on judgment, not on tasks a tool can do.
- You stop measuring your worth by volume and start measuring it by the quality of your calls.
- You have a clear, concrete answer when someone asks what you bring that the machine doesn't.
