Who's holding me while I hold everyone else?
You took this role to hold others steady. Now you notice something: no one asks what it costs you to hold them. That is not an accident. It is how the role was built, and also a gap you have the power to close. You did not agree to be invisible. But waiting for someone to notice your exhaustion and fix it hands your peace to people who are busy, distracted, or simply never trained to see it. That is not within your power. Their noticing is not yours to control. What is yours to control: who you tell the truth to, what you refuse to carry silently, and whether you build something with your peers instead of enduring alone. If the weight stays heavy long after the day ends, say that plainly to someone trained to help carry it. That is accurate reporting, not weakness.
No one is coming to hold you the way you hold your team — stop waiting for it. What's within your power: naming your load to one specific person, building a structure where support runs both directions, and refusing to perform strength you don't have left. Waiting for rescue is not a plan.
What changes unlock by starting
- You stop carrying alone what was never meant for one person.
- Your team watches you ask for help, not only give it — and learns that is allowed.
- You catch the moment you've gone past your limit sooner than before.
- You build at least one relationship built to hold you back.
