Why do overdue account calls still rattle me?

You already know how to manage the accounts. The numbers are not the trouble. The trouble is the moment before you dial, when your stomach turns and you find one more thing to check first. That delay is a choice, even if it does not feel like one. Nobody in your pod is born calm about asking someone for money they owe. They learned to dial anyway. You can too, and faster with people watching than alone. If this dread follows you home and sits with you for hours after the call ends, that is worth naming to someone outside work as well. This page is for the shake before the call, not for carrying it all day.

The reader already has the skill; what they lack is repeated practice acting through discomfort, which coaching drives better than explanation.

What’s really going on

The shake in your chest is not the problem. What you do next is. You do not need to feel calm to make the call. Pick up the phone while your hands are still unsteady. A skill you only use when comfortable is not yet a skill. Choose the call, not the feeling.

What changes unlock by starting

  • You make the call before you feel ready, every time it is due.
  • Your pod tracks your calls made, not your excuses for delay.
  • The shake stays in your chest instead of showing in your voice.
  • Overdue conversations grow shorter and more direct over a few weeks.
One object, two jobs: a public answer to a real problem, and — the moment you start the chat — Aurelius’s live plan for your version of it.
