Why do the routes and the pace of deliveries overwhelm me?

You did not sign up to carry a hundred stops in your skull. No one can hold that and stay steady. What feels like the job crushing you is really your mind trying to pre-live a day that has not happened yet. You are not alone in the van, even when you are alone in the van. Your pod set the routes, built the schedule, and will deal with the delays alongside you. The weight was never meant to sit on one driver's mind. Here is the honest split: the route is fixed, the traffic is fixed, the number of stops is fixed. What is not fixed is whether you try to hold all of it at once or whether you and your pod build a rhythm that only asks you to see the next stop. Choose the rhythm. You cannot choose the traffic.

The fix is mostly behavioral — a shared rhythm and handoff habits — so coaching carries more weight than explanation.

What’s really going on

The miles are not your enemy. Your enemy is carrying the whole day in your head at once — every stop, every delay, every what-if, all before you've lived a single hour of it. Put the day outside your mind. Work one stop. Then the next. That is the whole method.

A moveWrite down only the next stop, not the next ten. Let the list hold the rest.
A moveAgree with your pod on one check-in point mid-shift — a text, a radio call, nothing elaborate.
A moveWhen a delay hits, name it out loud to your pod instead of absorbing it silently.
A moveAt day's end, say one thing that slowed you down. Let the pod fix the pattern, not just your day.
A moveBefore your shift, choose which three stops matter most if time runs short. Decide that now, not mid-route.

What changes unlock by starting

  • You stop replaying the whole route in your head and start seeing only the stop in front of you.
  • Your pod catches delays earlier because someone says something instead of pushing through alone.
  • The day ends with less to carry home, because you named the hard parts as they happened.
  • You and your team build one shared rhythm instead of each person inventing their own way to cope.
