Why does commanding at my level overwhelm me?

You did not feel this way giving simple orders. You feel it now because the job grew larger, and you still try to hold every outcome in your own head, alone. That is not command. That is a man refusing to put anything down. Here is the trap: you confuse responsibility with control. You are responsible for your decisions and your orders. You are not in command of the market, the weather, other people's choices, or how the day finally turns out. Carry what is yours. Set down what is not. Most of the weight you feel is borrowed from things you were never meant to carry. Your team feels this too, even if they have not said it. Name the weight together. Sort it, out loud, into what is truly in your hands and what is not. Then act only on the first list. This is work for the whole pod, not a burden for you to carry silently so they don't see you struggle.

The core teaching — separate what is yours to control from what is not — can be stated in a few lines; the real change comes from practicing the split daily with your team.

What’s really going on

The overwhelm is not proof you lack the strength to command. It is proof you are trying to hold outcomes that were never yours to hold. Command what you control: your judgment, your orders, your next action. Let the rest go. Do this with your team, starting today.

A moveList everything weighing on you today. Mark each item: within your control, or not. Act only on the first list.
A moveHand one decision back to someone on your team today. Command is not holding everything yourself.
A moveBefore you leave each day, name one thing you did well and one choice still in front of you. Nothing more.
A moveWhen your team brings you a problem, ask what part of it is theirs to decide. Give that part back.
A moveStop rehearsing disasters that have not happened. Judge only the task in front of you right now.

What changes unlock by starting

  • You stop carrying weight that was never yours to carry.
  • Your team starts owning decisions you were holding alone.
  • You act on fewer things, and actually finish them.
  • The overwhelm shrinks because the job shrinks to what is truly yours.
