Why does rejection still wear me down after a good audition?

You walk in ready. You do the work well. Then the answer comes back no, and it lands like a verdict on who you are. That is the real problem — not the rejection itself, but what you have decided it means. Talk this through with your pod plainly. None of you controls who gets cast. That decision belongs to a casting director, a budget, a look they already had in mind. It was never yours to hold. What is yours: the preparation, the choice to walk in, the work you did in the room. Your pod exists for exactly this. They can see your work clearly when you cannot, because you are too busy grading yourself by the wrong measure. Let them tell you the truth about your craft, separate from the outcome.

What’s really going on

The audition is yours. The casting is not. You are grading yourself by a decision that was never in your power. Stop. Judge only your own work — did you prepare, did you show up honest, did you do it well. Separate that from their answer, and the wearing-down stops feeding on you.
