You feel crushed by a mortgage or commitment you can't escape

A mortgage, a loan, a long obligation you signed onto — it sits on you like a weight you cannot put down, coloring every decision and stealing your peace. You feel trapped by a choice your past self made, sentenced to carry it with no way out.

What’s really going on

That crushed feeling is real, and reason can lighten it in three ways. First, look plainly at whether escape is truly impossible — the word trapped closes your eyes before you have tested each door, and very often at least one moves. Second, if you must stay, change your relation to it: trim other burdens, seek small relief, and stop letting the weight color every hour, since a load consciously carried sits differently than one you feel crushed beneath. Third, take back the choice — you took this on for reasons, and you may choose it again on purpose rather than endure it as a sentence, for the mind bears a chosen burden far better than an imposed one. Let us test whether the walls are as fixed as they feel.
