Do I trust the AI pricing model or trust myself?

The model gives you a number. You do not fully know how it got there. So you do one of two things: wave it through because it's math, or throw it out because it isn't you. Both let you skip the actual work, which is judgment. Call this what it is. Trusting blindly is laziness wearing the coat of progress. Resisting on principle is fear wearing the coat of caution. Neither one is thinking. Both let you avoid being responsible for the decision. What's in your power hasn't changed. You can learn what the model uses and what it ignores. You can check its output against what you already know. You can accept it, override it, or blend it — but only after you've done that work. The model is new. The discipline required of you is not.

What’s really going on

Neither. You do not owe the model blind faith, and you do not owe it contempt. It is a tool, built by people who can be wrong. Your job is to use it, question it, and still decide. The choice was never taken from you — check that you have not handed it over.
