Burnout has progressed far enough that I cannot readily identify activities I genuinely enjoy. The anhedonia is present and it is being managed through more work rather than being addressed.Even in my genuine downtime I cannot fully switch off — a low hum of guilt insists I should be being productive. So my evenings and weekends are neither work nor rest, just a restless in-between that restores nothing.Everyone tells me to lean in, but I keep wondering what I'm sacrificing that I'll never get back.From the outside I am performing well. Inside I am running on reserves I cannot replenish quickly enough. The performance is maintained through depletion and the depletion is hidden.I am afraid that if I rest, even briefly, I will fall behind — that the people I am competing with will pull ahead while I pause. So I keep going past empty, treating recovery as a risk I cannot afford.I am burned out and the demands have not reduced. I cannot address the burnout while the causes of it are still fully operational. I am trying to recover inside the fire.
