How peer support groups can break out of performative success sharing

I'm in a monthly CEO peer group where we're supposed to share real challenges but everyone just talks about their wins and growth numbers and I'm dealing with serious cash flow issues and considering layoffs but I don't want to be the only one admitting I'm struggling. The whole thing has become a performance of success rather than actual peer support and I think other people feel the same way but we're all too afraid to be vulnerable first.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A group designed for mutual support has become a theater of competence where the very vulnerability that would make it useful feels too risky to show.
