When peer groups choose comfort over challenging growth

I'm part of a peer mentorship group of executives and we're supposed to challenge each other and give honest feedback, but we've settled into being really polite and supportive instead of pushing each other, and I think we're all getting less value from it but no one wants to be the person who makes it uncomfortable. Our problems are getting bigger but our conversations stay surface-level.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A group designed for mutual development has collectively chosen psychological safety over the discomfort necessary for real progress.
