Scenario

When one co-founder becomes the designated difficult conversation handler

My co-founder and I started this company as equals but over time I've become the one who handles all the difficult conversations with employees, investors, and customers while they focus on the technical work. I'm burning out from always being the bad guy and I don't think they realize how much emotional labor I'm carrying for both of us.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Partners have unconsciously divided labor in a way that concentrates all interpersonal burden on one person, creating invisible inequality.
