When leadership peers send mixed messages and undermine each other unintentionally

My VP of Sales and I have completely different management styles and we're both reporting to the CEO and trying to build culture but we're giving people mixed messages about everything from meeting etiquette to how we handle failure. People have started playing us against each other and I think we look like we don't communicate and I don't know how to fix it without throwing him under the bus.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two leaders are inadvertently working against each other because they've never aligned on the basics of how they'll lead together.
