When flight crews avoid discussing risk tolerance until it becomes critical

Our flight crew has been together for six months and we work well operationally but we've never talked about our individual risk tolerances and I'm starting to realize we might have very different comfort levels with certain weather conditions and medical interventions. We assume we're aligned because we haven't crashed yet, but I don't think we actually know each other's decision-making processes.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Operational competence is masking fundamental differences in judgment that could become dangerous under pressure.
