How to address unequal workload distribution in understaffed pharmacy teams

Our hospital pharmacy team has been dealing with chronic understaffing for eighteen months and we've developed this unspoken system where some of us cover the critical gaps while others stick to their assigned duties and nobody talks about the unfairness of it. I'm one of the people picking up extra work and I'm burning out but I also don't know how to address this without it becoming about who's a team player and who isn't.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A team has developed an informal system for managing understaffing that creates resentment and burnout without anyone directly addressing the inequity.
