Scenario

When peer support groups become performance spaces

Our leadership cohort was supposed to meet monthly to support each other through our first executive roles but it's turned into a performance where everyone shares their wins and no one talks about what's actually hard. I've watched people nod sympathetically while clearly thinking about their own turn to speak and I do it too.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A group designed for vulnerability has unconsciously created conditions that reward its opposite.
