Scenario

When consensus decision-making becomes a tool for manipulation rather than collaboration

Our leadership team makes decisions by consensus which sounds good in theory but in practice means whoever cares least about the outcome gets to hold everyone else hostage and we've all started not caring about things we actually do care about just to avoid the exhaustion. Someone needs to call this what it is but we're all too committed to the process to admit it's broken.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A commitment to inclusive process has been corrupted into a mechanism that rewards disengagement and punishes genuine investment.
