Our maintenance crew has this unspoken thing where the older guys won't fully train the younger ones because they're protecting their job security, and the younger guys are starting to figure it out and getting resentful. I'm the supervisor watching this happen and everyone knows I see it but we're all pretending it's just 'different learning styles' while our knowledge transfer gets worse every month.
More people experience this than they realize.
The older workers won't train the younger ones to protect their jobs, and as supervisor you're pretending not to notice.
