When remote teams develop informal inner circles

Our team has been remote for two years and we've developed this pattern where three of us stay on calls after the official meeting ends to actually discuss what we really think, and the other team members never get to participate in those real conversations. I initiated this originally but now I see how it's created an inner circle that's probably toxic for team trust.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Informal power structures that emerge in remote work can undermine stated team values without anyone explicitly choosing them.
