When senior engineers can't align on mentoring approaches

The senior engineers in our group mentor junior staff completely differently - some are hands-off, others micromanage every calculation - and we've never talked about what we're actually trying to teach these people about being structural engineers. I watch the junior staff get confused mixed messages about everything from technical standards to client relationships.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Uncoordinated leadership is teaching conflicting lessons about professional practice and technical judgment.
