The three family farms in our cooperative have been talking about consolidating equipment purchases and sharing labor during peak seasons, but we keep dancing around the real issues of who contributes what and how we handle it when someone's farm has problems that affect the group. We all want this to work because individually we're all struggling with costs and labor shortages, but there's this unspoken worry about becoming dependent on each other or one farm becoming a burden.
More people experience this than they realize.
You all want to team up to survive, but nobody will say out loud who owes what.
