I used to think my job was to keep the plant running, full stop, and safety was a box we checked to keep it running. Then a near miss last month put a young guy in the hospital for two days, and I stood by his bed realizing I'd had the order backwards. I'm only now learning, later than I should have, which of the two things I'm responsible for actually comes first.
