When designing the space is easy but building it isn't

I can picture a beautiful room down to the light falling on the floor. But the moment the engineer starts talking about load-bearing walls and where the ductwork has to run, my design starts to feel like it's falling apart in my hands. I love the vision part, and the part that makes it stand up is drowning me.
