I know the code cold, better than anyone on the crew. So I'm always the one calling a halt to redo something that isn't up to spec, while everyone groans and the foreman checks his watch. I'm keeping people safe and keeping us out of trouble, and all I get for it are eye-rolls and the nickname the fun police.
More people experience this than they realize.
Doing the job right means slowing everyone down, and no one thanks you for it.
