When every compromise to your design leaves you bitter

I had a clear vision for this building, clean, honest, exactly right. Then the budget, the code, the client's cold feet all chip away at it, and I make the compromises because I have to. But I resent every one of them. I keep giving up pieces of what I believe in, and each cut leaves a little bitterness behind.
