I closed a big one today and my first thought was that I got lucky, that the customer would have bought anyway. When I lose a deal, though, it goes straight to the pile of evidence that I'm just not cut out for this. My wins never count and my losses always do, and the scoreboard in my head is rigged against me.
More people experience this than they realize.
Your wins feel like luck and your losses feel like proof you don't belong.
