I can model a company's future now with numbers that land close to true, close enough that people plan hires and bets around them. But I'm the one who knows how much of it is still educated guessing, assumptions stacked on assumptions. It unsettles me how much weight rides on figures I know, deep down, are just my best guess dressed up as certainty.
