When I can describe what happened but a real story eludes me

I can tell you exactly what happened, first this, then that, all the facts in order. But when I'm done, people just nod politely, and I know it landed flat. A real story does something to a person, and mine only inform them. I can feel the difference between reporting and storytelling, and I keep landing on the wrong side of it.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

You can lay out what happened, but making it a story that moves people eludes you.

If this sounds familiar, the Library can help you find the bigger picture.
