I can go out and gather samples all day, label them, log them, bring them back clean. But when my advisor asked me to design the actual study, where to sample, how many, what to control for, my mind just went blank. I stared at the map of the site with no idea where to even start. Collecting I can do. Designing the whole thing overwhelms me.
More people experience this than they realize.
You can collect the samples but designing the research itself overwhelms you.
