When I can report any story but the profession is disappearing

I can report almost any story and make it land, after twenty years of learning how. But the newsroom I trained in is half-empty now, my old editor took a buyout, and the beat I built is being handed to someone who covers three others too. I still love the work, and I'm grieving a trade the world seems to want less of every year.
