I got into the habit of writing things down, and for a stretch it really helped. But things keep changing, and keeping the docs both useful and up to date is a losing game. By the time I finish updating one section, another part is already out of date, and I can't tell anymore which pages people can trust.
More people experience this than they realize.
You can write it down, but keeping it useful and current as things change defeats you.
