When leading a team means carrying everyone's livelihood

I can build a team and lead it well. People follow me, and we do good work. But on payroll day I feel the full weight of it, that these families eat because I keep this thing running. When the numbers get tight, I lie awake doing the math on whose life I'd have to upend.
