When leading the numbers pulls you away from the work you loved

I own the growth number for the whole company now, and every meeting is about targets and forecasts. The thing is, I got here because I loved the actual work — the writing, the testing, the small wins. Now I sit in reviews all day and can't remember the last time I made something with my own hands.
