I run the whole events team now, and on the big night I'm standing in the back watching someone else work the room I used to own. I answer for every perfect moment, but through other people's hands. I got good at this by being in the middle of it, and now the job I earned keeps me on the sidelines of the thing I love.
More people experience this than they realize.
You got promoted for being great in the room, and now the job keeps you out of it.
