When numbers feel safer than the people you actually coach

At the end of every session I fill in the numbers, and the numbers feel solid in a way people never do. But these are teenagers, not data points, and I can feel myself flattening them into rows on a sheet. Numbers don't argue back or have a bad week, and that is exactly why I keep hiding in them.

What we've seen

You keep turning the people you coach into numbers because numbers feel safer to trust.
