Early on, the thought that people's lives rode on my drawings either made me sloppy and careless or kept me up all night. Now the weight is still there, but it sits differently. When I sign off, I feel a steady, sober care, not panic and not a shrug. I hold the responsibility without letting it either crush me or make me numb to it.
More people experience this than they realize.
You carry the weight of public safety as steady care, neither careless nor crushed.
