I trained to help people find knowledge and love books, and today I talked someone through a housing crisis, fixed three broken laptops, and gave a cold man a warm place to sit. The library has become a social worker's office, a tech help desk, and a shelter of last resort all at once. I care about these folks, but I was trained for none of this, and most days I feel in over my head.
More people experience this than they realize.
The job you trained for has turned into roles you were never prepared for.
If this sounds familiar, the Library can help you find the bigger picture.
