I posted this morning and refreshed the numbers before I had even had coffee. A good day and I am floating; a flop and I am useless until dinner. My whole sense of whether I am any good is hooked to a counter that some algorithm controls, and I hate how completely it owns my mood.
More people experience this than they realize.
Your self-worth goes up and down with the view count, and you can't unhook from it.
