The decision went the way I'd argued for, and I don't manage a single person in that room. I got there by listening first, by making the case in their terms, by being right enough times that people trust where I point. Teams I have no power over are building things the way I laid out, because they want to, not because they have to. I move the whole org now with nothing but credibility.
