I can make a machine see a room and understand almost everything in it, and part of me is proud of that. But last night I stayed late watching it track people across the floor, and I felt something cold in my chest. I'm getting very good at teaching machines to perceive the world, and I'm not sure how I feel about how capable that makes them.
